The coast of Puerto Vallarta was my home for the first eighteen years of my life. During my time there, I attended the American School of Puerto Vallarta which gave me a bicultural and bilingual education that enriched my childhood and through rigorous academic work prepared me for college. I grew up playing soccer, going surfing, working at my mom’s restaurant and deeply loving my parents and my two amazing sisters.

Shortly after high school graduation, I moved away from Puerto Vallarta to start my liberal arts education at

Boys Totem Town
St. Olaf College in Northfield MN. After two years of being a biology major and tutoring Spanish I started to realize that my passion laid more in the educational arena rather than in the scientific one, and so it was then when I switched majors from Biology to Spanish Education.

During my time at St. Olaf I got involved in different student organizations like FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), PRESENTE which is the Latino awareness group on campus, MIRA an interfaith and religious pluralism group amongst others. I also was a student athlete and played three years with the varsity soccer team at the Division III level. My experience at Olaf challenged me and forced me out of my comfort zone, something that on the long run made me a person aware of the world surrounding me.
